“Netflix and Apple+ have quietly dropped their bids for the Will Smith biopic and will instead reallocate funding to develop the idea of an original show based on a new black actor,” a source said.
Working with Smith has reportedly become a “dangerous business” following the controversy surrounding the violence at the awards ceremony. The controversy began when Smith stormed the stage at the Oscars and slapped Rock after the comedian made a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith.
