Andy Lau and Director Ning Hao Collaborate in New Movie “Mr. Red Carpet”
The much-anticipated movie “Mr. Red Carpet” is set to be released nationwide on February 10th, the first day of the Lunar New Year. The film features the popular actor Andy Lau and is directed by Ning Hao.
In a special edition of the film titled “Are you sure you want to repay a favor?”, the close friendship between Lau and Hao is highlighted. The special edition shows the daily interactions between the two, both in front of and behind the scenes. They are said to have a 17-year friendship, which is evident in the movie’s special edition.
“Mr. Red Carpet” tells the story of a superstar, played by Andy Lau, as he collaborates with director Lin Hao, played by Ning Hao, to shoot a rural-themed film in order to win an award. However, the movie turns into a “farce” due to a mistake.
Ning Hao, in an interview, shared that casting Andy Lau for the movie was a “gift of gratitude” from him to Lau. The two have been friends since they worked together on the movie “Crazy Stone” in 2006. It is being reported that Ning Hao took 17 years to give “Mr. Red Carpet” to Andy Lau as a “repayment” gift for the help and support Lau provided him early in his career.
In a light and comedic approach, the film also depicts the current situation of the entertainment industry. It explores the contradictions and misunderstandings behind the lives of superstars, which resonate with real-life situations.
