In a recent interview on the “Armchair Expert” podcast hosted by Dax Shepard, actor Bradley Cooper opened up about how fatherhood has given him a new sense of purpose in life. Cooper, who welcomed his daughter Lea in 2017 with ex-partner Irina Shayk, revealed that becoming a dad has motivated him to continue living, stating, “I’m not sure I would be alive if I weren’t a dad.”
The actor also shared personal reflections on his initial doubts about loving his newborn unconditionally, but how love grew in him over time. Cooper, who has been sober for almost two decades, credited his daughter as a motivation to stay clean and not hurt her.
Cooper also discussed his recent film “Maestro” at the Producers Guild of America Awards, joking about his demanding directorial style that had the cast “going crazy” during production. Despite the challenges, the film has received critical acclaim and multiple Oscar nominations.
This is not the first time Cooper has been candid about his unique directing methods, including banning chairs on set to keep the energy up during filming. “Maestro” hit theaters in September 2023 and is currently nominated for six Oscar categories.
