The suspense drama “Cesia” continues to captivate audiences in Beijing
Returning to the Beijing stage once again, the ambient suspense drama “Cesia” is back and better than ever. The thrilling production, which involves the audience in solving a murder mystery, has been receiving rave reviews from theatergoers.
The story revolves around the murder of a famous musical actress in her dressing room, and the audience plays a crucial role in uncovering the truth. Using a “Star Detective” style real-life evidence search and immersive performance, “Cesia” keeps viewers on the edge of their seats for 150 minutes.
“‘Cesia’ is a work co-created by the actors and the audience. In this play, the audience is not only a viewer but also the investigator of the case,” said Han Jie, the producer of the drama. “The interactive nature of the production has been a unique and exciting experience for many viewers.”
Since its debut in June 2022, “Cesia” has been a hit among young people, drawing crowds in cities like Suzhou, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, and Chengdu. With nearly 350 performances under its belt, the drama continues to evolve with the help of audience feedback.
“Some viewers have more out-of-the-box ideas and ask questions from tricky angles. This brings us a strong sense of freshness and a desire to express ourselves,” said actor Chi Haozhen. The constant interaction between the characters and the audience adds a new layer of excitement to each performance.
