Chris Pine Opens Up About Struggle with Acne in Early Career
Chris Pine, known for his roles in the “Star Trek” franchise and critically acclaimed films such as “Don’t Worry Darling” and “Hell or High Water,” recently revealed his struggle with acne early in his Hollywood career.
In a recent episode of the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast, Pine shared that he had “horrible skin” both as a teenager and after college, which he found emotionally disabling. He expressed frustration with the misconception that acne only affects teenagers and discussed how debilitating it was for him personally.
The discussion was prompted by comments made by “The OC” casting director Patrick Rush in Alan Sepinwall’s book, “Welcome to The OC: The Oral History,” where Rush mentioned that Pine had auditioned for the role of Ryan Atwood but was ultimately passed over due to his “really bad skin.”
Pine candidly expressed his feelings about Rush’s comments, stating that he felt they were unnecessary and that he understood the industry’s preference for “pretty people doing pretty things.” Despite missing out on the role in “The OC,” Pine went on to have a successful career in Hollywood.
