A young woman, 23 years old, who had just given birth died from hemorrhagic dengue at the José Iturraspe Hospital in the city of San Francisco.
The case is the first death of a pregnant person due to the disease in the province of Córdoba.

“This girl was admitted to the hospital with a diagnosis of dengue. She had been derived from Porteña. She had a full-term pregnancy and on the 14th she went into labor,” explained doctor Mario Vignolo.
“Since the doctors had very low platelets, with good judgment, they decided to wait for the natural birth to come so as not to have to subject her to a cesarean section, which of course is traumatic even more taking into account the low platelets and the healing problem,” he added. in statements to the program “Arriba Córdoba” on El Doce.
He also said that “during the course of labor, fetal suffering occurs because they decide to compensate the patient, raise her platelets and perform a cesarean section, which they do.”

And after the patient was in therapy but well, recovered, speaking with the family, with the doctors, at night she decompensated, she underwent surgery again, she had to have a hysterectomy and as a result of that she later died.

Autopsy
Vigñolo pointed out that in the clinical autopsy he discovered a “cataclysmic hemorrhage, typical of these cases. “The platelets that had been raised before surgery were consumed in all this hustle and bustle. Most of these cases they are impossible to save”, he assured.
“These are difficult situations for ordinary people to understand and for the doctors themselves there is a lot of helplessness when this happens,” he added.

The newborn also has dengue since the virus was transmitted through the mother’s placenta, which is technically called “vertical transmission.”
