The Belgian ultra athlete Matthieu Bonne already has many records to his name. The documentary follows Bonne during his record attempt on the eight Canary Islands. The athlete completed eight triathlons in eight consecutive days.
Bonne’s tour de force has now been immortalized in ‘8 Islands’, a production by Glowball Films and directed by Klaas Backers. “Five years ago I would never have dared to dream this. It is amazing that this documentary was made and it is fantastic that the film is being presented again at this film festival in front of two sold-out audiences,” Bonne responds. Due to high demand, an extra screening was even scheduled.

According to Bonne, in the documentary viewers will see what it takes to set such a record. “People will see how far I have to go to achieve something like this. There are also many difficult moments, but the strength that I get from nature during those moments is also discussed.”
The Bredenaar remains vague about his future record attempt plans. “I can already tell that this year is going to be crazy and that the first attempt will involve running. I hope to surpass last year.”
