Dominican Republic Arrests Tekashi 6ix9ine on Allegations of Violence Against Romantic Partner

American rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, also known as Daniel Hernandez, was arrested in the Dominican Republic on Wednesday. He is accused of physical and psychological violence against his romantic partner, Dominican rapper and reggaeton singer, Yailín la Más Viral. Hernandez is currently being held in a jail in the capital of Santo Domingo and is set to appear in court on Thursday. It has not yet been confirmed whether Hernandez has legal representation. A judge will decide on Thursday whether he will remain in custody or be released on bail while the investigation continues.

This is not the first time Hernandez has faced legal troubles. He has had previous incidents involving accusations of attacks and kidnapping with his partner, Yailín. The couple has a history of public disputes, with both making allegations against each other. Hernandez was also arrested in the Dominican Republic in October 2023 after being accused of assaulting a local music producer.

In the United States, Hernandez was previously charged with using a violent gang as a “personal hit squad,” but avoided prison time by testifying against the gang. In March 2023, he was attacked by multiple individuals in a gym in Florida.

Despite his legal troubles, Hernandez has achieved significant success in his music career, with a multi-platinum song, “Fefe,” featuring Nicki Minaj, which peaked at No. 3 on the charts in 2018. The latest arrest in the Dominican Republic adds to the controversial and tumultuous history of the rapper.

The situation continues to develop, and further details are expected to emerge as the legal process unfolds.
