WASHINGTON (AP) — A driver died after crashing a vehicle into a gate at the White House on Saturday night, according to authorities.
The driver was found dead in the vehicle after the accident shortly before 10:30 p.m. at a door on the outer perimeter of the White House complex, the United States Secret Service said in a statement.
Security protocols were in place, but there was no threat to the White House, the agency said.
The driver was not identified at first.
The Secret Service will continue to investigate the matter, although it has delegated the crash portion of the investigation to Washington Metropolitan Police, the agency said.
