Filpucci closes an “extraordinary” year with a bonus of 1,200 euros for employees

by admin

Filpucci grows by 50% in 2021 and becomes one of the exceptions that confirm the rule: while the textile-clothing sector is still chasing the recovery of pre-Covid turnover levels, the knitting yarn company in the Prato district closes the year with revenues of 45 million euros, almost 20% higher than in 2019 , a year that was already considered good.

A bonus for an exceptional year

“A result possible thanks to everyone’s commitment” wrote Federico Gualtieri, son of the founder Leandro and today at the helm of the company, in the letter sent to the hundred employees and accompanied by a special gift: a Christmas bonus of 1,200 euros each ( in the form of a 516 euro gift card to spend in a shopping center and a 700 euro paycheck reward) just to celebrate a year defined as “extraordinary”: “We are all veterans of a lockdown due to a pandemic still in progress, but to which we have been able to adapt quickly and do what we do best: beautiful yarns for knitting », reads the letter.

Knitting boom

The growth is linked in particular to the performance of the knitting and carding divisions, both of which went from 9 to 15 million in revenues, while the “classic” division of high-end fancy yarns remained stable. In fact, knitting, which had already had a boom in 2020 due to the effect of Covid which pushed knitting, continued to pull, while the increased attention to sustainability pushed the carded and especially the regenerated cashmere lines. the result of recycling processes. “We have come to produce more than 100 thousand kilograms of regenerated cashmere – explains Gualtieri – for a turnover close to ten million euros, which is destined to grow also in 2022”.

Attention to sustainability driving for carded

Only the carded division is expected to increase revenues from 15 million to 20 million next year. Filpucci’s 2022 budget is still being drafted, made difficult by the increases in the costs of textile raw materials, energy but also cardboard , which now represent the real obstacle to growth. “Such a situation, which also involves utilities, has never been seen – concludes Gualtieri – we are making new price lists to be sent by the end of the year and the price increases cannot be less than 20%”.
