Dan Schneider, who was partly responsible for the success of channel Nickelodeon in the early 2000s, is filing a complaint against the makers of a documentary that has brought him into disrepute. He does not deny that he was a bad boss, but believes he has been unfairly associated with child abuse.

In the docu series Quiet on set, a series of former actors and employees testify about their collaboration with the Nickelodeon producer. They don’t paint a pretty picture there: they talk about belittling employees, harassing women and sexualizing child actors. It exposes the toxic atmosphere behind the scenes of series such as Drake & Josh, All that and The Amanda show.

Back in March, Schneider apologized for his “embarrassing” behavior and admitted that some scenes were inappropriate. At the same time, he emphasized that all scenes had been approved by his managers. Nickelodeon had already stopped working with Schneider in 2018 after a series of internal complaints.

A few weeks after the revelations, the former now decides to take the stand and file a complaint against the makers of Quiet on set. He is particularly bothered by the fact that he is associated with two former employees who were convicted of child abuse. Schneider says he “didn’t know anything about the abuse, was not complicit, and was not a child abuser himself.”

The former producer believes that the series suggests that he is. According to him, this is done by alternating the images of convicted criminals with his own and naming them together. “I have no objection to anyone pointing out my shortcomings as a boss, but it is wrong to mislead millions of people into thinking I was involved in the terrible crimes committed by child molesters.”
