Fostering Innovation and Culture: The Rise of Shanghai Fashion Week and Ontimeshow in China’s Fashion Industry

The 20th season of Ontimeshow 2024AW kicked off on March 25, 2024, at the West Bund Art Center in Shanghai, marking a significant milestone in the development of China’s fashion industry. As one of the leading participants in Shanghai Fashion Week, Ontimeshow has played a crucial role in shaping the city’s cultural memory and promoting the creativity of Chinese youth.

During the five-day exhibition period, Ontimeshow showcased 157 brands across four venues, offering a diverse range of fashion choices and creating a platform for brands and buyers to connect and explore new opportunities in the industry. The event not only provided a space for communication and trade but also served as a reference point for the evolving fashion landscape in China.

Ontimeshow expanded its reach beyond the Pujiang River to the Suzhou River, opening new exhibition areas like the Bailian Fashion Center Yanqingli and the Ontime Center in Bailian Sihang Warehouse Science and Technology Innovation Center. These venues aim to build a unique fashion industry scene in Shanghai’s cultural context, showcasing new fashion paradigms and fostering design creativity.

One of the highlights of Ontimeshow 2024AW was the “YOUNG TALENTS” discovery program, which featured ten emerging designer brands selected by a panel of industry experts. These brands showcased their latest designs in the YOUNG TALENTS area, highlighting the innovative and boundary-pushing work of the new generation of designers.

Moreover, Ontimeshow emphasized the resurgence of oriental aesthetics in Chinese fashion, with brands like QIUHAO, Puzhenji, and ANGEL CHEN incorporating traditional cultural elements into their contemporary designs. This blending of old and new has become a competitive force for Chinese fashion on the global stage, attracting attention and admiration from fashion enthusiasts worldwide.
