In the week of August 15th, going to the cinema means above all relaxing and having fun: it is no coincidence that the most awaited film of these days is “Free Guy”, a simple but nice action-comedy starring Ryan Reynolds.

Directed by Shawn Levy (the director of the “Night at the Museum” saga), “Free Guy” is a sort of “Truman Show” in the videogame universe, which, however, has neither the depth nor the ambitions of the great cult film by Peter Weir starring Jim Carrey. Several passages can also recall other more recent titles, including the Disney animated film “Wreck-It Ralph”, but there is no lack of original ideas in this feature film that alternates more banal passages with others decidedly more layered and capable of making people think.

Effective entertainment

Without taking itself too seriously, “Free Guy” manages to create pleasant entertainment, suitable for a carefree viewing with the whole family.
