Idea Bmw, the technological glasses that display the bike’s information

ROME – On motorbikes and in cars with the convenience of viewing information via head-up display technology. This is what BMW has managed to achieve, which has just presented its ConnectedRide Smartglasses on the occasion of the Motorrad Days in Berlin.

These innovative motorcycle goggles exploit the functionality already known in the automotive sector of the head-up display by projecting all relevant data directly into the rider’s field of vision in real time. In this way the driver can view data such as speed, speed limits, gear and navigation (reduced arrow view or detailed navigation with street names, junctions and precise directions), thus benefiting from driving with advance information and therefore safer .

The ConnectedRide Smartglasses can be easily connected to the smartphone via Bluetooth connection and dedicated app, the projection can be positioned and the settings selected before departure and also while riding through the multicontroller on the motorcycle handlebar.

In addition to the personalized user interface, these motorcycle goggles also offer a high level of comfort having been developed ad hoc to meet the needs of centaurs (two sizes, M for a pupillary distance from 53 to 67 mm, and L for a distance from 59 to 73 mm), available with different nose pads, while the lithium-ion battery guarantees up to ten hours of operation. Also included with the frame are two sets of Uva/Uvb certified lenses: one is 85% transparent and can be used in particular with helmets with integrated sun visors, the other set has colored lenses that transform the smartglasses into a perfect pair of sunglasses.

For eyeglass-wearing riders, the lenses can be ground and adjusted to the required visual acuity (up to a maximum of 4 diopters) by an optician using an RX adapter (included). The only sore point for these innovative glasses, also equipped with a protective case and a USB charging cable, is that the price of 690 euros is not exactly within the reach of all budgets.
