People are busy in Cologne: The punk rock quartet KMPFSPRT was founded 14 years ago and today announces their fifth studio album with the single “Bisher alles gut”. “For given occasion” will be released on April 5th, 2024, for the first time via Rookie Records, and a week later the band will go on tour.
The new album is bursting with positive energy, big gestures, small, personal stories and clear words that sometimes give the listener an encouraging hug and sometimes a demanding kick in the back. Because one thing should be clear after a good 45 years of punk rock – it only ever works together, or, as it says in the first single “Everything’s good so far”: “You and me against the idiot army”

Is it a coincidence that the ‘Idiot Army’ sung in the text of “So far everything is good” rhymes with AfD? Good question. Actually, both words should be in the synonym dictionary. KMPFSPRT take a clear position here: “No chance for the new Nazi apparatus”. It may be 5 to 12, but that doesn’t mean you’re giving up hope – “We are still much more”. Guitar out, mouth open, fist in the air – all together against new and old fascism.
The twelve new songs on “For a given occasion” were created from day one with the producer duo Kurt Ebelhäuser and Michel Wern in recording studio 45 in Koblenz. The team, which is also responsible for the most recent releases by bands like DONOTS and Pascow, tickled the band’s most musically exciting record to date. You have to do it first in the 14th year of the band!
