Lanús beat San Lorenzo 2-0 this Saturday at the Nuevo Gasómetro for the first date of Zone B of the 2024 South Finance Cup.
Both teams tried to play with the ball on the ground and find associations to reach the rival goal but the Garnet was clearer than the Ciclón. In the first half neither team was able to take advantage and the game went to halftime 0-0.
In the second half came the controversial play of the game after a stopped ball by Lanús. Jonathan Torres was running to reach a front cross and fell to the ground while struggling with Giay. The referee interpreted that both players were taking each other and therefore did not indicate a penalty.
At 72 minutes of the game, Walter Bou entered in place of Augusto Lotti and the ex-Boca striker who arrived as reinforcement in this transfer market was key for Granate. After a nice team play, Jonathan Torres rebounded with his back to the goal to assist Bou, who scored first to make it 1-0 in the 86th minute.
Five minutes later the formula was repeated: Torres assisted Walter Bou inside the area and the forward scored with his left foot and sealed the final 2-0.
On the next date San Lorenzo will face Belgrano at the Gigante de Alberdi, while Lanús will travel to Rosario to play against Newell’s Old Boys.
