The guilds of Oil and maritime workers stopped this Monday in rejection of the labor reform included in the Bases Law already the restitution of Income Taxin the middle of the discussion of the project in the Chamber of Deputies.
The Federation of Workers of the Oilseed Industrial Complex, Cotton Ginners and Related Workers of the Argentine Republic This Monday began a fight plan in conjunction with the Union of Oil Workers and Employees of San Lorenzo (SOEA) with a strike in the country’s oil plants and gins for an indefinite period.
The claim is for «decent wages and working conditions for the entire working class and in rejection of the Omnibus Law, called ‘Bases’ by the national government, which seeks to impose a regressive Labor Reform with outsourcing, labor fraud, ease of discriminatory dismissals, reinstatement of Income Tax and privatizations of state companies and resources that are the heritage of all the Argentine people,” the union indicated.
«The Labor Reform contained in the Omnibus Law It has no modernization at all, it is a great setback. Repeals aggravated compensation for people who work and are not registered. It legalizes labor fraud with the figure of the ‘independent worker’, outside of all legal protection,” the oil producers pointed out.
Favors outsourcing and precariousness
Furthermore, they considered that the norm «favors outsourcing and precariousness, and extends the trial period from 3 to 6 months, and in some cases it can be 8 and even 12 months, to frighten and discipline the workers.
«It favors discrimination and dismissals due to ethnic, racial, religious, union, health, physical condition, ideology or sexual orientation. It attacks women: during pregnancy you can work up to 10 days before delivery, which is now only possible if delivery is brought forward. Thus, the employer will be able to ‘suggest’ to the workers that they work almost until they give birth,” highlighted the Federation.
«We denounce and reject the presence of the Gendarmerie in the areas of the oil ports to intimidate, and we hold the National Executive Branch and the provincial governments responsible for the physical integrity of the workers who exercise their constitutional right to Strike,” he said in a statement.
And I add: «Against the regressive and unconstitutional reformagainst the reinstatement of the fourth category of Profits, against privatizations and the looting of the resources of the Argentine people, we begin the strike for an indefinite period from this moment.
Meanwhile, this Monday the Union, Maritime and Fluvial Federation (FESIMAF) launched a surprise strike by the maritime unions in rejection of the return of the Income Tax and the labor reform.
The measurement schedule
The measure of force was proposed from 6pm to 12pm on Tuesday, in coincidence with the treatment of the norm in Deputies, with a “total cessation” of activities in the sector.
FESIMAF called for a strike and declared itself in «State of Alert and Mobilization».
«It is a total cessation of activities with permanence on board and attending only to emergencies, in the sectors of Port Maneuver Towing, Mooring boats and Pilotage boats for the boarding of Pilots, carrying out exclusively the services to disembark them,” said the Federation.
Also They are scheduled to go to Congress tomorrow to protest for the restitution of the fourth category of Profits and the labor reform.
