Overseas Taiwanese Children Invited to Experience Taiwan’s Culture

The Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) in Taiwan has announced a program aimed at overseas nationals who are returning to the country for a short period of time with their children. The “Missing Taiwan – Short-term school experience program for overseas children or teenagers” will allow children aged 6 to 15 to participate in a cultural exchange program and learn more about Taiwan’s customs and people.

The program will run from August 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021, and applications are open from May 8, 2020 to May 28, 2020. Interested participants can apply for up to 1 experience per school year, with a minimum of 5 school days and a maximum of 30 school days.

More information and eligibility criteria can be found on the program website: https://www.ocac.gov.tw/OCAC/Pages/VDetail.aspx?nodeid=3726&pid=63943536. To apply, applicants must register on the “Overseas Chinese Affairs Activities Registration System” website: https://register.ocac.gov.tw/cht/index.php?/sign/nostalgiafortaiwan2025.

In addition, the Taiwan Overseas Youth Cultural Ambassadors Association (FASCA) is also recruiting new members. Teenagers aged 12 to 17 are invited to join the FASCA orientation in Atlanta from 7/26 to 7/28 at the Atlanta Overseas Chinese Education Center. This is a great opportunity for young Taiwanese-Americans to connect with their heritage and develop leadership skills.

To register for FASCA, applicants must submit a one-minute self-introduction video in Chinese or English. More details and registration links can be found on the FASCA Atlanta website: https://fascaatlanta.org. For registration FAQs, visit: https://reurl.cc/krR3z9.

For further inquiries about the FASCA program, contact the Atlanta Overseas Chinese Education Center at 770-451-4456 or email [email protected].
