Osage Nation Members Grace the Red Carpet at Oscars for ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’

Members of the Osage Nation arrived on the red carpet at the 2024 Oscars for the highly anticipated movie “Killers of the Flower Moon.” The film, directed by legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese, delves into a dark and tragic chapter of Osage history.

In 2019, Scorsese and his team collaborated with Osage Nation Chief Geoffrey Standing Bear, who provided valuable resources such as the tribe’s language department for the production. The director also met with residents of Oklahoma’s Gray Horse community, descendants of Osage victims from the 1920s.

Countless Osage people were involved in the making of the film, with their expertise evident in every aspect of the production. Chad Renfro, the tribe’s ambassador for the film, praised the level of authenticity achieved through the Osage consultants’ attention to detail.

“Killers of the Flower Moon” has received multiple nominations at the Oscars, showcasing the Osage Nation’s significant contribution to the film industry. Members of the tribe walked the red carpet at the star-studded event, representing their rich history and culture on a global stage.
