Ludovic de Saint Sernin Makes Debut at New York Fashion Week
Parisian designer Ludovic de Saint Sernin made a splash at New York Fashion Week with the debut of the brand’s new 2024 autumn and winter series. This marks the first time the designer has showcased his collection in New York, despite the brand being headquartered in Europe.
The decision to hold the fashion show in New York comes as the majority of the brand’s revenue comes from North America, with U.S. sales alone accounting for 32% of total revenue. In an effort to meet the needs of American consumers, Ludovic de Saint Sernin decided to take the show overseas.
The new collection is deeply influenced by the late American photographer Robert Michael Mapplethorpe. “I see myself in Robert in a personal and creative way, and this is the perfect time to commemorate his work and life,” Ludovic de Saint Sernin told Hypebeast backstage at the show.
The collection features a range of clothing categories including vests, skirts, dresses, long-sleeved tops, suit jackets, leather jackets, coats, shirts, and trousers, all adorned in fitted tailoring styles with a predominance of black and white. The series also introduces the color red in some of the pieces.
Fashion enthusiasts can view the complete series in the gallery for a closer look at the designer’s latest creations. With the successful debut in New York, Ludovic de Saint Sernin continues to make a name for himself on the international fashion stage.
