Peruvian Culture Takes Center Stage at NBA Game
Over 20 thousand attendees at the game between the Washington Wizards and the Orlando Magic were treated to a special halftime show highlighting Peruvian culture. The event, organized by the Embassy of Peru in the United States, took place at the iconic Capitol One Arena in Washington D.C.
The Papalca USA School of Art and Music showcased more than 20 talented Peruvian dancers and musicians, captivating the audience with traditional dances and music. The director of the school, Victor Ruiz, emphasized the significance of promoting local culture on such a grand stage.
“We have performed in many venues over the years, but it is the first time we are at an NBA stadium. It is a great opportunity to showcase the beauty of Peruvian culture,” said Ruiz.
Images and videos of the performance shared on social media by the embassy drew a positive response from viewers, with many expressing pride in seeing their culture represented on an international platform.
The dancers, some of whom were born in the United States but maintain strong ties to their Peruvian heritage, delivered a memorable performance that left a lasting impression on the audience. The event served as a reminder of the rich cultural heritage that Peru has to offer to the world.
