The SANKUANZ 2024 autumn and winter series made its debut at Paris Fashion Week, showcasing a fusion of Eastern culture, high fashion, and streetwear. Designer Shangguan Zhe drew inspiration from the sacred center of Eastern culture, Mount Kailash, taking the audience on a sensory journey through fashion language.
The show installation, presented in collaboration with the Swiss visual art team ENCOR Studio, used lights to simulate the majestic landscape of Kailash. The music, composed by musician Yan Jiaqing, added to the sensory experience, creating a passage to the top of the sacred mountain.
The collection featured oversized silhouettes inspired by traditional Tibetan robes, with a modern design twist. Traditional oriental dress elements, such as slanted lapels and three-dimensional wrap-around collars, were reimagined in a contemporary context. The brand’s iconic Dagger symbol appeared as decorative embellishments on zippers and hat ropes, while a collaboration with Korean tattoo artist and illustrator Miki Kim resulted in prints featuring his orchid and mantis series using street graffiti techniques.
In terms of footwear, the brand introduced new options such as cowboy boots and mules slippers, featuring the outsole of the Dagger shoes and added color rubbing and distressing techniques.
The SANKUANZ 2024 autumn and winter series successfully merged Eastern culture and high fashion with streetwear, creating a visually stunning and sensory experience for attendees at Paris Fashion Week.
