Shanghai Disney Resort Breaks Ground on Third Disney-Themed Hotel
In a significant milestone for the Shanghai Disney Resort, the groundbreaking ceremony for the third Disney-themed hotel took place in August 2023. Representatives from both sides of the resort joint venture attended the ceremony, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the popular tourist destination.
The development project management team has made significant progress, completing piling work on the hotel this week. The foundation has been laid for the main works to commence in the next phase. The new hotel, boasting 400 rooms, will be situated on the shores of Wishing Star Lake, offering tourists additional accommodation options upon its completion.
Since the opening of Shanghai Disney Resort in June 2016, Shanghai Disneyland has undergone two successful expansion projects. These include the “Disney·Pixar Toy Story” theme park opened in April 2018, and the grand opening of the “Disney Pixar Toy Story” theme park in December 2023, featuring the highly anticipated “Zootopia” theme park.
Looking ahead to the Year of the Dragon, Shanghai Disney expressed confidence in the resort’s future. Preliminary construction preparations have begun for a new attraction within Shanghai Disneyland. This independently themed attraction will be located near the “Zootopia” theme park and is currently in the early planning stages. Shareholders and management are eager to update guests on the progress of this exciting project as it unfolds.
