ROME – From how the hood of a car is opened, and where the control for opening it is located, passing through the measurement of the oil level and its topping up, up to the adjustment of the tire pressure. All this, and much more, can be found in the initiative called “#shecandoit” and conceived by Elena Spelta who, thanks to the experience gained in her family’s workshop, has decided to help other women to understand something more in complex world of the car, which has always been an almost exclusively male fiefdom.
The proposed format certainly does not want to be an advanced mechanics course that deals with complicated notions but is presented as a simple guide to face and solve those small problems that can arise every day driving a car. The idea was born almost by chance in 2019 by observing the customers in the family workshop who were astonished when the mechanics tried to explain the problem encountered in their car.
This is how this free course started, which over time has become increasingly popular and has begun to arouse interest on social networks as well. The experience gained “in the field” in the first person, has allowed Spelta to understand what could be the best language to explain the functioning of the components that can determine the malfunctioning of some parts of the car. In short, thanks to his teachings, women can learn to get by on their own in unpleasant situations such as, for example, a flat tire, or how to fill the windshield wiper fluid reservoir. All information on the #shecandoit initiative is available on the Facebook page of the Spelta Pneumatici workshop where it is also possible to book the course in the presence reserved for women (next appointment on March 12) which, between theoretical and practical part, will last approximately 3 hours.
