Shiseido was born in Japan, a country that celebrates and respects nature, a philosophy that also guides the cosmetics brand in all its activities. Among these also the “Mare” project (acronym for Marine Adventure for Research & Education), of which it is a partner, which is an integral part of a global initiative: “Shiseido Blue Project” which provides, from 2019, concrete actions to promote respect for the oceans, such as cleaning beaches and restoring coral colonies. Last year, in fact, 100 thousand corals were planted, 2 tons of plastic were removed from the rivers of Latin America thanks to 1,635 volunteers with 3,041 young people trained in cultural and environmental administration.

This year, the third edition of the Sea project of the CVC Foundation – Centro Velico Caprera ETS, in collaboration with One Ocean Foundation, starts from La Maddalena, home of the Foundation, where it all began, which will be the starting and arrival point of this initiative which will touch other countries, Italy, France and Spain, which overlook the Mare Nostrum, in ten stages. The One catamaran will set sail on April 27th to return to Sardinia on July 6th.

«Environmental protection has always been in our DNA. It is also to give the right response to projects like this that our foundation was born a year ago. “Sea” is a very special idea which aims to monitor the health of the Mediterranean, promote knowledge and protection of the marine environment. In the first two years – explains Stefano Crosta, president of the CVC Foundation – Centro Velico Caprera ETS – six universities came on board. The main objective this year is to host researchers and institutions, such as the Navy, for over two months on board the One catamaran to collect and analyze data on chemical pollution of the waters and on marine biodiversity in the Mediterranean, both in fauna and flora, and become a true scientific platform of reference at an international level”.

To protect the seas, Shiseido has developed new sunscreens formulated with SynchroShield technology which strengthens the protective film in contact with water and heat and helps limit their release into the seabed. The lotion bottles are made of 90% bio-polyethylene of plant origin. The external packaging is made of paper from sustainable forests. The new solar compacts have rechargeable packaging.
