„holly humberstone“ was born on December 17th, 1999 in Grantham, County Lincolnshire and grew up there with her three sisters and their parents. In her youth she learned to play the piano and then began writing her own songs. She celebrated her first successes with her self-recorded song “hit & run“, which she uploaded to the “BBC Music Introducing” platform and, through lucky circumstances, got a festival slot at the Glastonbury Festival 2019. She also began studying in Liverpool in 2019, but gave up studying after a year and moved to London to devote herself full-time to her music.
and then it really started: in January 2020 she released her debut single “deep end“, in February 2020 she was a support act for “Lewis Capaldi” and in August 2020 her debut EP “falling asleep at the wheel“. and then? Then came the first awards – in December 2020 she was included on the New York Times’ best songs of 2020 list and at the same time she was nominated by BCC for Sound of 2021, but “only” came second. The single “ was released in April 2021haunted house“, in November their second EP “the walls are way too thin“. Together with Sam Fender, she released an acoustic version of Fender’s “Seventeen Going Under”, and in December 2021 it was announced that she would win the 2022 Brit Awards in the “Rising Star” category.
In 2022 she released the double EP “can you afford to lose me“, the following summer she was seen at festivals such as the Sziget Festival.
