Lin Meixiu, Award-Winning Taiwanese Actress, Ventures Into Music Industry
Taiwanese actress Lin Meixiu, known for her impressive acting skills and numerous awards in the film industry, has recently made a surprising entrance into the music world. At the age of 56, after 37 years in the entertainment industry, Lin Meixiu has decided to pursue her music dream with the release of her debut single.
The talented actress, who has won prestigious awards such as the Golden Horse Award and the Golden Bell Award, revealed that her foray into music was inspired by fate. Lin Meixiu shared that popular singers Xie Mingyou and Peng Jiahui were the “matchmakers” who helped bring out her newfound passion for music.
During a stage play three years ago, Lin Meixiu met Xie Mingyou, who she affectionately calls “Brother Black.” The two bonded over their shared love for music, and Xie Mingyou even wrote two songs for her. It wasn’t until a conversation with her friend Peng Jiahui last year that Lin Meixiu seriously considered pursuing music. Encouraged by Peng Jiahui’s support and a demo she had created, Lin Meixiu embarked on her musical journey.
With the support of her husband, renowned photographer Zhang Ximing, Lin Meixiu recorded her debut single, titled “Lai Chun” in honor of her mother. The emotional recording process even brought tears to Lin Meixiu’s eyes, as she poured her heart into the song dedicated to her beloved mother.
The accompanying animated music video, produced by Zhang Ximing, has been described as a “horror movie” by Lin Meixiu in jest. Despite the humorous description, she hopes that the video will resonate with viewers and evoke memories of their own mothers.
