Taiwanese Director Wei Desheng to Screen New Film “BIG” in San Francisco Bay Area
On April 14, 2024, Taiwanese director Wei Desheng is set to personally bring his latest work “BIG” to the San Francisco Bay Area for a special screening. The event, organized by Amazing Taiwan and the Northern California Chapter of the Taiwan Public Affairs Association (FAPA), will be a unique opportunity for movie enthusiasts in the Bay Area to interact with the acclaimed filmmaker.
Wei Desheng recently participated in the North American Taiwan Film Tour Film Festival with “BIG”, a heartwarming film that tells the stories of six families in a children’s cancer ward. The movie has been described as a blend of sadness and hope, highlighting the resilience of individuals facing life’s challenges.
According to Gao Chunhui, chairman of “Really Love Taiwan”, the movie carries a message of encouragement for those under financial pressure. Director Wei expressed his belief that despite being perceived as a sad place, the ward is actually filled with vitality as people strive to survive.
The screening of “BIG” will take place in San Leandro and Milpitas in the San Francisco Bay Area. Wei Desheng will be present at each screening to engage with the audience and share insights into the making of the film. In addition, the screening in Milpitas will feature Taiwanese night market delicacies provided by Meiermei, Ami Kitchen, Gourmet Xiaoxing, and more.
Tickets for the screening are priced at $15.00 per person, with a discounted rate of $10.00 for students. Children under 12 years old can attend for free. The details for the screenings are as follows:
