Ten major troupes from around the country have come together to create a series of stage works centered around the apotheosis of gods, aimed at inspiring and entertaining Chinese children. The announcement was made at the Zhejiang Dialect Art Theater, where representatives from troupes such as Zhejiang Performing Arts·Zhejiang Children’s Art Troupe, Liaoning People’s Art Theater, and Beijing Children’s Art Theater revealed their plans to bring the “Fengshen” series to life on stage.
The “Fengshen” series, which includes characters like Nuwa, Jiang Ziya, Erlang Shen, and Nezha, will be reimagined by the artists involved in the project. The first of these stage works, “Jiang Ziya of the Gods,” produced by Zhejiang Children’s Art Theater, made its debut at the Zhejiang Dialect Art Theatre to critical acclaim.
Director Guo Hongbo described Jiang Ziya as a late bloomer who has been waiting for his moment to shine, hoping that the story will inspire children to pursue their dreams. The production integrates various art forms such as modern dance, Chinese opera, martial arts, and magic, creating a visually stunning and dynamic performance.
Audience members, including parents who brought their children to the show, were impressed by the creativity and message of the production. The performance sparked discussions about family education and the potential for children to find their place in the world.
