The fuel dispensers? They will become shopping centers

by admin

ROME – The debate on the cars of the future is all about what the vehicles will be like, and that’s right. But the charging stations? Will the current columns remain or will we think of something different? What will happen when most vehicles switch to batteries?

We can imagine that the passage will be long as long as the “combustion” fleet exists, and therefore the current service stations will add charging points so that many people will continue to visit them even if they do not need to refuel.

The other problem is how long the cars need to recharge.

According to Shell, this recharge time could lead to a rethinking of the philosophy and also of the physiognomy of the stations: new services could be added. Stations could start adding gastronomic or commercial and service centers, something similar to what happens with airports that cease to be transit points and become meeting points.

A sort of shopping malls to recharge, that’s what gas stations could become. The idea is not new, and it is the centers outside the big cities that – having space – will be able to use it. But will we be ready?
