ROME – More than a thousand km with a single hydrogen refueling. To be precise 1003, routes on public roads south of Paris and in the Loir-et-Cher and Indre-et-Loire areas, all strictly certified by an independent authority: the average fuel consumption was 0.55 kg / 100 km, with a full tank equivalent to 5.6 kg of hydrogen. To conquer this record, the four pilots called to work have adopted a style of “ecological driving” that can be easily used by all types of drivers. Among them also Victorien Erussard, founder and captain of the Energy Observer, the first boat equipped with Toyota fuel cell technology, autonomous from an energy point of view, zero emissions and a real research laboratory for the energy transition.
Hydrogen, as a reliable and abundant resource for energy transport and storage, can offer zero-emission mobility not only for road transport, but also for trains, boats and planes, industries, businesses and homes. In this regard, Toyota supports many initiatives to democratize and diversify the applications of fuel cells: electric generators (EODev), boats (Hynova), taxis, buses (Hype and RATP), trucks (Hino), the city of hydrogen (Woven). City) and more.
“The goal achieved with the new Mirai was an incredible challenge,” said Frank Marotte, CEO of Toyota France. “Today we have once again demonstrated our Start Your Impossible attitude, which guides us and pushes us to go beyond our limits”. (fp)
