Tigres comes back to beat San Luis and is provisional leader of the Mexican Clausura tournament

MEXICO CITY (AP) — With goals from Sebastián Córdova and the Argentine Juan Brunetta in a three-minute stretch of the second half, Tigres came back to beat Atlético de San Luis 2-1 on Wednesday and became provisional leader of the Clausura tournament .

Brazilian Leo Bonatini put the hosts ahead in the 18th minute, but Córdova equalized with a mid-range shot in the 71st minute and Brunetta turned the score around with a score in the 73rd minute for the university team.

Brunetta scored his first goal with Tigres, who were runners-up in the previous tournament.

With the result, the team led by Uruguayan Robert Dante Sibolbi has nine points and is the sole leader.

Only America, which later faced Ciudad Juárez, could displace him from that position.

Tigres overcame the absence of their historic scorer, Frenchman André-Pierre Gignac, who was left out of the match due to a stomach infection.

The match corresponded to the fourth date, but Monterrey, Tigres and the Águilas overtook them to play in the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

Atlético de San Luis suffered its first defeat, remains with six points and slipped to fourth position.

THE ROOSERS RESCUE DRAW

Ettson Ayón scored late in the match and Querétaro rescued a 1-1 draw against Monterrey.

American forward Brandon Vázquez scored his first goal in Liga MX in the 41st minute, but Ayón declared equality in the 82nd minute.

Monterrey remains undefeated and accumulates seven points to place itself in second position.

The Gallos Blancos avoided their second defeat and reached two points to climb to ninth position.
