Toyota shrinks in Argentina and launches a voluntary retirement plan for 400 employees

The automotive company Toyota made official a voluntary retirement plan for its Zárate plant, with a quota of 400 employees who will be paid compensation by seniority, plus an additional 12 salaries.

The information had already emerged weeks ago and the SMATA union He had lowered it to the workers last Wednesday.

This Tuesday, the company’s local subsidiary whitewashed the downsizing program with a statement titled “Voluntary retirement plan for employees within the agreement.”

“As you know and as a consequence of the drop in demand in some of our export markets, at the beginning of the year we designed a new production scheme that contemplates a plan for 160,000 units,” says the text of the note.

“Among other measures, we made the decision to modify the takt time from 90 to 95 seconds at our Zárate plant, with the need to adapt the staffing of the agreement personnel (SMATA and ASIMRA) to the new production scheme,” he adds.

Given this panorama, the automaker decided to open a voluntary retirement plan “with a limited capacity of 400 workerswhich will recognize a bonus equivalent to the legal compensation for seniority (including final settlement) plus an additional 12 (twelve) basic salaries, taking into account the category of each employee,” the statement specifies.
