TURIN. It will be a full-scale restyling, which will involve the three main spaces in the farmhouse on Corso Vercelli: theater, school and library. It will make it possible to refurbish worn systems and windows that are no longer up to standard. This is the extraordinary maintenance plan of Cascina Marchesa, developed in the last few days by the Municipality, after a meeting – dated January 28 – with area associations and District 6.
A 2.6 million project, coming from the NRP, which will be implemented from the autumn of 2023. An intervention that will have an anticipation – not linked to the Recovery and Resilience Plan – in the coming months, when the repair of the heating of the theater, in the cold since last autumn due to a breakdown. A job, the latter, from 30 thousand euros, which will allow associations to reuse that space from next autumn. Translated: the current winter season is to be considered entirely lost.
Since November, the theater companies have been asking to reactivate the heating. The repair, however, never took place. And so, since then, workshops and shows have been gradually suspended. “The last one dates back to mid-December,” explains Maria Grazia Agricola, from Choros, one of the companies.
With the first thirty thousand euros, the boiler will be restored and the air recirculation system will be put into action: “In the coming months the works will be carried out – assures the councilor for the ecological transition, Chiara Foglietta – so that in October the activities can restart”.
But the theater also has other problems. Including the fact that one wing is unusable. The bar has been closed for some time and is in need of a makeover. And the bathroom is no longer in order either. Then there are the other spaces. In the library you need to fine-tune windows, gutters, flooring. The column room, the center’s conference room (which is part of the library), has more than one problem related to heating and access for the disabled. 1.5 million will be spent to put these two spaces (theater and library) in order. The remaining part of the investment (1.1 million) will be used to put a hand to the institute including Corso Vercelli, which in turn requires structural interventions, in particular on the gymnasium: “Cascina Marchesa is an indispensable garrison of sociality in the Six – underlines the councilor for the Peripheries, Carlotta Salerno – The activities carried out in the theater have for years been a source of aggregation, community, culture ».
Last November, the gym was left in the cold for a few days due to a breakdown in the heating system.
