YUMA, Ariz. (AP) — A shooting at a neighborhood event in Arizona left two dead and five wounded, police said Sunday.
The incident occurred just before 11 pm Saturday in Yuma, police spokeswoman Sgt. Lori Franklin said. She added that an investigation is ongoing but no one has been arrested.
The reason for the shooting was unknown, but Franklin said there is no longer a threat to the community.
Officers went to the event after receiving reports of an aggravated assault, the spokeswoman said. Upon arrival, they found seven people with gunshot wounds.
Two men — ages 19 and 20 — were pronounced dead at Yuma hospitals and a 16-year-old was airlifted to a Phoenix hospital with serious injuries, the spokeswoman said.
Four youths between the ages of 15 and 19 were being treated at the Yuma Regional Medical Center for injuries that did not appear to be serious.
The names of the dead and injured were not immediately released.
