Acquisitions in the leather goods supply chain do not stop, despite the difficult economic phase which led to an autumn freeze in sales abroad and a slowdown in production activity. Still moving the pieces on the chessboard is Holding Moda, the subcontractor hub established in 2018 by the investment company Holding Industriale (Hind) of Turin-based Claudio Rovere.
Tuscan specialized SMEs
Holding Moda has announced the 100% acquisition of two small integrated Tuscan companies, founded by Fabio Tombelli and Stefania Romagnoli: Emmetierre and Fast Pelle, both located in Scandicci (Florence), the heart of the Florentine luxury leather goods district. Emmetierre produces small leather goods (wallets, key rings, credit card holders, clutch bags and mini-bags) for luxury brands; Fast Pelle cuts and prepares the leather for these productions. In 2023 the two companies had a turnover of 3.2 million euros with 37 employees.
Constant expansion
With these two acquisitions Holding Moda comes to own 16 investee companies in the textile, clothing, embroidery, screen printing and printing, leather goods, footwear and upper manufacturing sectors, with a customer portfolio that includes the major luxury brands. In particular, this operation (the value of which was not disclosed) strengthens the group’s presence in the leather goods sector, already covered by the Florentine companies Gab (acquired in 2021) and Taglionetto (acquired in 2023). Gab will now act as the leader to enhance synergies: both Emmetierre, Fast Pelle and Taglionetto will move – by next June – to its new 19 thousand square meter factory in Campi Bisenzio, with the aim “of optimizing the majority of the activities in a the only center of excellence for leather goods”, states a note. The hub will have 260 employees.
Focus on leather goods
«This new operation is part of a strategic project for the development of leather processing, which boasts significant growth potential», states Claudio Rovere, founder and president of Hind. The entry into Holding Moda «is a great growth opportunity for Emmetierre and Fast Pelle – say the former owners Tombelli and Romagnoli – also guaranteed by the collaborative relationships and exchange of know-how that we are already starting with the other companies of the group , all excellences in their respective areas of specialization, winning expressions of Made in Italy.” For Holding Moda, this is the umpteenth stage in a journey destined to continue, after having crossed the finish line of 310 million in consolidated revenues in 2023 with 1,500 employees in Tuscany, Veneto, Marche, Emilia-Romagna and Campania.
