ALEXANDRIA. Valentine’s Day is loved, hated or endured. The party of lovers is, however, one of the moments of maximum inventiveness. Not just between lovers. Companies, restaurateurs, bartenders, associations and tour operators take the opportunity to create themed events, which have to do with the couple and which are different from usual.
So everyone, even those who are not in love, can take advantage of it. And enjoy, for example, a tour between viewpoints. Or buy one of the thirty limited edition hats that the Borsalino maison has created especially for this day, in collaboration with the Swiss designer Marcelino Chapeaux who customized each piece of the collection with the help of the illustrator Manolita.
And for those who celebrate: you can get out of the routine of the (usual) dinner out, chocolates and heart-shaped tickets. Alexala, that is the local tourist agency, remembers romantic views and ideas offered by the whole province. Starting from the most “Valentinian” giant bench there is: that of San Salvatore, which is fuchsia. It is located in Monferrato, which is a romantic land par excellence: born, in fact, from a love story. The one between Adelasia and Aleramo, who rode for her three days and three nights and thus defined the boundaries of the land of hills and wine.
Matteo Bandello, a Dominican friar who lived in Castelnuovo Scrivia at the beginning of 1500, recounts it, considered one of the authors who most inspired the works of William Shakespeare. Also in Monferrato there is the most romantic viewpoint, the one set up in Coniolo with a box “to be opened only in case of true love”, with three roses inside. In the meantime, the Novese District has managed to involve twenty-six countries in the new initiative designed for tomorrow: the romantic benches. «They will be decorated with hearts of all shapes and sizes. Each municipality that will host a romantic location has decided how to personalize their “Selfie Corner” available to anyone who wants to celebrate the most romantic period of the year in an authentic way, with a walk, a photo, time to spend together », they explain. Once the photo has been taken, it can be shared on social networks by tagging the Novese District.
Each station will also be the starting point to discover the most characteristic corners of the different countries, helped by the app developed by the District which tells about all the places of culture, art, belvedere combined with food and wine excellences. «Il Novese – they recall – is the land of sweets. There is no pastry shop that does not offer the famous baci di dama, the most romantic dessert there is ».
