A low-cost and highly competitive energy storage technology to help make the energy transition real. Sinergy Flow, winner of the Lombardy Start Cup, won the National Award for Innovation (Pni), the business plan competition promoted by the PNICube Association and hosted this year by the “Tor Vergata” University of Rome.

Sinergy Flow has proposed an innovative low cost, sustainable and high efficiency battery for energy storage on a multi-day basis, allowing the penetration of renewables up to 90% in the energy system. The technological solution developed is a flow cell battery based on abundant and inexpensive materials, in full compliance with the principles of Circular Economy.

In fact, the use of sulfur-rich by-products of the petrochemical industry guarantees an extremely low installation cost, up to 30 times lower than the solutions on the market today. The startup also won the Pni Iren Cleantech & Energy award.

The Industrial award for innovative industrial production went to Adaptronics (Start Cup Emilia Romagna) with a more sustainable and smart logistics proposal with electro-adhesive gripping devices and recyclable sensorized tape to monitor the status of the goods. The deep-tech startup aims to revolutionize freight transport logistics, with the aim of making it more sustainable at all stages of the supply chain up to the delivery of the last mile: a 210 B $ market in which 63% of companies need of more efficient movements and to which 70% of companies in the world require greater transparency on the delivery chain.

The ICT award (information technologies and new media) was assigned to Algor (Start Cup Piemonte and Valle D’Aosta) which uses artificial intelligence to create concept maps in an automatic and customizable way, also to support students with DSA, making education truly inclusive.
