A New Class of 37 Residents Join Palencia Health Care Management for Postgraduate Training

A new class of 37 residents has recently joined the Palencia Health Care Management to begin their postgraduate training. The group consists of 22 Specialized Care residents and 15 Primary Care residents who have opted to train at the Palencia Care Complex (Caupa) or at various health centers in the province.

The new internal resident doctors (MIR), internal resident psychologists (PIR), and internal resident nurses (EIR) will undergo training for a period of two to five years in thirteen teaching units at Caupa. Among the new graduates, fifteen will be taking on hospital medicine positions at Río Carrión and San Telmo hospitals. These positions include residents in Internal Medicine, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Anesthesiology and Resuscitation, Digestive System, General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology, Intensive Medicine, Pulmonology, Ophthalmology, Pediatrics, Radiodiagnosis, and Urology.

In addition, fifteen residents will be working as specialists at Primary Care health centers within the Palencia Health Area. Twelve will specialize in family and community medicine, while three will focus on family and community nursing.

The Palencia Health Care Management is pleased to announce that all available resident positions have been filled. As a university hospital, the institution offers a comprehensive teaching program that includes undergraduate opportunities with various universities and training centers, as well as postgraduate programs in fourteen medical specialties, psychology, and two nursing specialties. The teaching unit in Mental Health is particularly robust, with two PIRs, one MIR in Psychiatry, and five EIRs.

With the new additions and existing residents from previous classes, the Palencia Health Care Management currently has a total of 147 resident interns undergoing postgraduate training in a variety of specialties, including 91 in Specialized Care and 56 in Primary Care. During the welcoming ceremony for the new residents, the heads of Hospital Care and Primary Care studies, Andrea Crespo and Luis Jolín, provided an overview of the teaching structure to the incoming residents.
