Gizzeria – “Everyone to the sea in synchrony”. Last Friday, on the Cristoforo Colombo promenade of Gizzeria Lido, the protagonists of the event were the young people of the association “Sincronia” of Lamezia Terme, the day was dedicated to them through the creation of recreational activities, such as flying kites on the beach and painting on canvas. With their approach to art, nature and others, their creativity came out, adding sparkle and color to a day in company, with the aim of giving moments of aggregation and lightheartedness.
During the morning a considerable number of screenings were carried out by Dr. Antonella Dattilo who was in charge of screening for diabetes and Dr. Aldo Vasta specialized in thyroid screening, both doctors and members of the Lions Club Lamezia Terme Valle del Savuto , an association that has been involved in providing this service to the population for years. As a specialist and service coordinator, Dr. Aldo Vasta explained the importance of carrying out an ultrasound of the thyroid gland: “Screenings are tests carried out on a more or less wide range of the population in order to identify a disease or its precursors (ie those anomalies from which the disease is develops) before it manifests itself through symptoms or signs. That of the ultrasound thyroid gland began in 2017 and so far has involved several thousand patients throughout Calabria which until now appears to be confirmed as an area of high endemic for thyroid diseases. There will be other appointments in this social year along with other screenings “.
Essential for the successful realization of this activity: Avis Regional Calabria association which – through qualified personnel – provided all the necessary equipment and the health camper, on which the patients were given thyroid ultrasounds for free. Avis Comunale di Gizzeria was also present, fully supporting the initiative. The ADA association for the Lametino (home and outpatient care) supported this initiative and offered breakfast and packed lunches.
The Leo Club Lamezia Valle del Savuto, was at the forefront to embrace this initiative, through the figure of the members and the president Attilio Gatto, all those present were welcomed by them and guided in the various stages of the day. This event for the young members of the Leo Club proved to be edifying and formative, these are the words of the President Attilio Gatto: “A unique day. I am highly satisfied with the result, the result of teamwork. We wanted to shape the day to entertain the children of the Synchronicity association and increasingly bridge the social gap between the able-bodied and the disabled. It was a success. Having fun together with kites or drawing on canvas and seeing the kids smile was rewarding. I would like to thank those associations that have collaborated so that the day was markedly unforgettable. This service, conceived and organized in detail by the Lamezia Terme Valle del Savuto Lions Club, proved to be a success for the club itself, in fact the president Carmelo Marzano addressed his thanks: “it was a day dedicated to friendship, good being together with wonderful, collaborative and loving guys. I will never stop thanking our Leos who, with wisdom and attitude, have been able to convey the sense of We Serve. Fantastic were the coordinators of the Synchronicity Association who coordinated with us the diabetes and thyroid screenings, carried out by our medical partners Antonella Dattilo and Aldo Vasta.
