Bergamo, Alberto and Davide Rossi, twins and graduates together in Medicine with 110 cum laude- breaking latest news

It’s okay that they grew up among white coats, stethoscopes and recipes. It’s okay that they absorbed the passion for medicine together with the milk in the bottle, when mom Lucilla and father Andrea – both doctors to Pope John XXIII – nursed them in turn. So much will have done genetics, but Alberto and Davide Rossi, 25, from Bergamo, above all they put their intelligence, commitment and dedication to study into it. And in recent days the twins have reached an enviable milestone: both graduated with 110 cum laude from the Bicocca University.

Twenty-four hours apart, the following were declared doctors of medicine: Alberto with a thesis, in English, in Gastroenterologyon the topic A quantitative MRCP-derived score for medium-term outcome prediction in primary sclerosing Cholangitis (supervisor professor Pietro Invenizzi, co-supervisor Dr. Laura Cristoferi), Davide with a thesis in Neurology, entitled Acute revascularization treatments in patients with ischemic stroke. Experience of the San Gerardo hospital in Monza and comparison with literature data (supervisor professor Carlo Ferrarese, co-supervisor Dr. Lorenzo Fumagalli).

The color chosen for the publication of the thesis is identical, a classic burgundy, similar to the suit, in shades of blue, used on the day of the discussion. They are already preparing the documents to enroll in the Order. And they are already back in the books. There is no time to waste: on July 26th there is the national competition for the specialty. Entry to score, Alberto points to Gastroenterology, Davide wants to become a neurologist.

The scholastic path of Alberto and Davide was the same and, in some parts, shared. Elementary school in two different sections at Rodari, middle school with Santa Lucia, then the choice of Lussana. At the city scientific high school they remained in the same section only the first year, then they were divided into two other classes. We took the choice of the Medicine test – explains Alberto – at the last minute, immediately after graduation. We got ready during the summer and then it went well and we both managed to get into Bicocca. Of course the idea of ​​studying another six years, after five years of rather tough and heavy high school, not that it made me crazy, but the prospect of being a doctor, a job that I enjoy and for which I feel inclined, prevailed. Repeating with Davide before the exams was useful – Alberto still remembers -. The first four years we followed the same paththen I was six months in Spain with Erasmus, so we did some different exams.

Of course I have been studying a lot, even if Alberto and Davide do not define themselves as geeks and love to go out with friends. The twins have many interests and, if they have always been united in the study, for sport and support they differ: Alberto plays basketball and supports Inter Milan, Davide plays football and AC Milan. But both of them have a passion for medicine. And they proved it.
