In recent days Monsignor Gian Carlo Perego, Archbishop of Ferrara and Comacchio, blessed the premises of the new ophthalmology day surgery of the Cona hospital.

Together with his Excellency they were present; the chaplain of S. Anna Don Andrea Martini, the General Management (present with Dr. Monica Calamai, General Director and Giuliana Fabbri, Health Director), prof. Marco Mura (Director of Ophthalmology) and the department team.

As of January 2024, alongside the ophthalmology emergency room, the ophthalmology day surgery is fully operational, with 10 beds and 4 dedicated seats (the previous provision was 4 beds). This allows 22 operations to be carried out per day: 12 outpatient cataract operations and 10 day surgery. The new organization of the ophthalmology day surgery allows for broader and more structured care of users for scheduled complex cataract, glaucoma and vitreoretinal surgery operations.

The expansion also includes a waiting room to host and welcome any family members and caregivers accompanying patients undergoing scheduled surgery.
