1) Cold versus hot Enjoy a cold shower followed by an ice-cold drink? Sounds tempting, but is of little help. Our body is to blame, which automatically takes countermeasures: The rapid change between heat and cold causes the body to increase its temperature even more in order to compensate. That costs energy, puts a strain on the circulatory system – and we sweat even more afterwards. Better: take a lukewarm shower or a cool foot bath. The situation is similar with ice-cold drinks.
