Ite Carrara Gyms Undergo €3.5 Million Redevelopment Project
The Ite Carrara gyms in Lucca are undergoing a major redevelopment project with a budget of 3.5 million euros. The project, which is set to be completed by autumn 2025, aims to modernize and make the school gyms safer from a seismic standpoint, as well as improve their energy efficiency.
The construction site was recently opened by the Province of Lucca and entrusted to the company Itaf Srl of Pistoia. An inspection of the site was conducted today, with the presence of the President of the Province, Luca Menesini, and other officials involved in the project.
The Ite Carrara school complex, which dates back to the 1950s, has already undergone various safety measures and adaptations. The redevelopment project will include works on the main gym and two smaller spaces used for sporting activities.
Funding for the project was obtained through various sources, including the Pnrr (National Recovery and Resilience Plan), GSE contribution, Foi 2023 funds, and a mortgage. The project includes seismic adaptation, safety enhancements, and energy efficiency improvements.
President Menesini expressed satisfaction with the progress of the project, highlighting the importance of creating safer and more modern facilities for teaching and sports activities. The Province aims to complete the entire project by 2025, ensuring that schools in the area are not only safe but also more functional and modern.
The intervention at the Ite Carrara gyms began with the demolition of non-structural parts and the dismantling of equipment. Subsequent works will focus on electrical, lighting, and heating systems, as well as the installation of an air conditioning system and photovoltaic panels.
Overall, the redevelopment project at the Ite Carrara gyms is a significant investment in the safety and functionality of the school facilities, ensuring that students have access to modern and secure spaces for physical activity and sports clubs.
