Ed Sheeran’s concert for Euro 2020 breaks the counters of TikTok

by admin

Singer Ed Sheeran broke the record for the biggest live music performance ever on TikTok with over 5.5 million spectators who watched his live streaming concert on the platform last Friday 25 June and the two reruns on Saturday 26 June.

The show, made as part of the TikTok initiatives for Euro 2020, was staged on Portman Road, the home stadium of the Ipswich Town (Sheeran) football team and streamed worldwide on its TikTok channel. The performance was conceived and filmed specifically for the social network audience from a bespoke stage designed to best fit the portrait format, combining special effects, a mobile phone that the singer used to speak directly to the audience, as well as augmented reality that changed with each song and integrated with the background of the stadium.

Emil Nava, a well-known British music video director, and Hamish Hamilton, music and television director, worked in partnership with TikTok, Atlantic Records, Sheeran’s management and the artist himself to produce the show, which also featured prominent TikTok creators such as Jeremy Lynch, Nathan Ramsay and Leticia Stock. The show also included the live premiere of the new single Bad Habits, after an exclusive preview on TikTok the week before, which allowed fans to create videos using a clip of the song: since then, it has been used over 400,000 times, which is another record.
