Embracer Group from Sweden announced earlier that they have bought Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montreal and Square Enix Montreal from Square Enix, as well as Tomb Raider, Hacker More than 50 IPs such as Deus Ex and Thief have been acquired, with a total transaction value of $300 million. The acquisition involves about 1,100 employees worldwide across the three studios, bringing Embracer’s total workforce to 14,000 when the dust settles. About 10,000 of these developers will be spread across 124 studios, and they are currently working on more than 230 games, including 30 AAA titles.

As part of the deal, Eidos Montreal has joined Embracer to use Unreal Engine 5 to develop The Hack. “Now we crazy guys have decided to revive The Hack as our first goal,” said studio head Davie Anfossi, “with a new team, more sophisticated production support, new technology and new It’s a piece of cake.” According to Anfossi, the console version of The Hack has sold more than 12 million copies.
