Eyes, chest, head: seven habits that will instantly make you more likeable

A job interview, the first date or a meeting with your future in-laws – there are many situations in which you want to present your best side.

With seven tricks you can appear even more likeable to others.

1. Straight posture

Let your shoulders fall back loosely, this will automatically take you into a more upright posture. This makes you appear more confident and open.

2. Maintain eye contact

Looking the other person in the eyes and paying attention to their facial expressions shows respect and signals that you are listening carefully.

Important: Don’t stare! This tends to produce the opposite effect.

3. Chest out

Sit up straight and put your chest out: A slight tension in the upper body makes people appear more vital and sincere. A straight posture also helps you to breathe properly and thus prevents tension.

4. Don’t cross your arms

Crossed arms make a defensive and closed impression.

Simply let your arms hang loosely or put your hands in your trouser pockets if you don’t know where to put them.

5. Smile

Nothing opens as many doors as a friendly smile. When greeting or entering a room, simply consciously pull the corners of your mouth upwards. This signals a friendly attitude and appears more likeable.

6. Greet in a friendly manner

A friendly greeting makes you appear open and confident. The greeting will definitely be returned in a friendly manner and there may even be a spontaneous conversation.

This way you can also make nice contacts with colleagues or neighbors.

7. The right handshake

If you want to shake someone’s hand, do it right. Nobody wants to be handed a dead fish or even the left.

Always look the other person in the eyes and shake their hand with gentle pressure – as if you were lifting a heavy pan. And: don’t forget to smile!
