FDA approves AI stethoscope, identifies heart failure – Medicine

The first stethoscope with an artificial intelligence system capable of identifying signs of heart failure, even during simple routine visits to primary care medicine offices, arrives in the USA. Developed by experts at the Mayo Clinic and the company Eko Health (specialized in the creation of medical instruments with the use of AI), the stethoscope is able to perceive the signals of a possible ‘cardiac ejection fraction’ that is too low, a key indicator of heart failure cardiac. It will be the first time that US doctors, during regular visits and within just 15 seconds, will be able to diagnose heart failure. The disorder goes unnoticed too often, as until now to identify it it is necessary to resort to echo-cardiograms and other more complex tests not available from internal medicine doctors.
