Free psychological assistance arrives for cancer patients and their caregivers

Free psychological assistance for cancer patients and their loved ones. Because being able to speak and be listened to is half the cure.
We often hear it said, but now the abstract idea is transformed into a concrete service. And it is “IrisRoma xleDonne xlaVita Onlus” that announces the launch of its new psychological Helpline (all on ).
This is a free service, accessible 2 days a week, which offers psychological assistance to cancer patients and their caregivers. The helpline operators are SIPO certified psycho-oncologists who will be able to help the person, after identifying their needs, to manage stress, anxiety, depression and other emotional disorders that can be caused by the disease.
What is offered is a safe and secure place, where people can talk about their experiences, share their feelings and receive emotional support. But the helpline can also help people find useful resources and information about the disease and necessary treatments. The objective is to leave space for the person who certainly needs medical therapies, but who with a dimension of closeness, social, creative and recreational emotional relationships can help their path to function more effectively.
“We are thrilled to launch our new psychological helpline,” says Barbara Costantini, psycho-oncologist and project manager. “We believe this service is an important resource for cancer patients and their loved ones. Our goal is to offer them psychological support that accompanies them during the treatment process.” All in line with the spirit of “IrisRoma xleDonne xlaVita Onlus”, a non-profit organization founded by Dr. Olga Naso to promote women’s health and gender medicine, with medical humanities, information and training projects.
To contact the helpline, you can call the number 3756692577 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5pm to 7pm or book an online consultation by writing to [email protected]. The free service will be active for a semester from February 20th to August.
