From robot to truck, Optimus Prime made of Lego is a true Transformer

After the DeLorean of Back to the Future, Lego takes another step back in timeonce again in the Eighties, to give life to one of the protagonists of the Transformers cartoon: Optimus Prime, the legendary Commander at the head of the Autobots.

The new Lego set, arriving on June 1st at the price of 169.99 euros, consists of 1508 pieces and it is a product Creator Expertthe line of the Danish company designed for adults and for lovers of brick replicas of iconic objects: from the legendary Vespa to the Colosseum to the mammoth reproduction of the Titanic sunk in 1912.

With Optimus Prime, Lego strikes back to the heart an entire generation grew up with the cartoons of the Eighties, in the era – in Italy – of the rise of private TV. Those children glued to the TV in the past will find today, when they grow up, an extremely detailed model.

Both in robot mode and in truck mode, the resemblance to the original character is extraordinary, and this is perhaps the only weak point of the set, which is so faithful as to risk – at the sight of the most distracted – not to immediately look like a Lego game. A sensation, this, certainly attenuated when, for example, the robot’s chest opens.

The most interesting thing about this Lego set, is that it comes with a 2-in-1 product that truly transforms from truck to robot, and vice versa, without having to remove a single brick. A feature that will appeal to those who intend to buy it not so much to let their children play with it but to show it off: they can decide to expose the Transformer in both modeschanging its appearance in seconds thanks to 19 pivot points which, among other things, allow the robot to open the chest to show the command matrix and to move the limbs.

Even in the case of Optimus Prime, the Danish company has thought of some accessories that enrich and make the set even more realistic: there is the ion blaster, the Autobot command matrix, an Energon ax, an Energon cube and a jetpack.

Optimus Prime in truck mode measures over 5 ” (15cm) high, 10 ” (27cm) long and 4 ” (12cm) wide. In robot mode, the model is 35 cm tall.
